Is Android 11 Stable? Asus Zenfone Lite L1 LineageOS 18.1 Review | Review: LineageOS 18.1 for Zenfone Lite L1 – Gaming, Battery & SafetyNet Test
Hey everyone, this is Kali from TechFanciers.
In this quick video review, we are taking a look at the latest LineageOS 18.1, which brings Android 11 to our budget-friendly Asus Zenfone Lite L1. We will cover the pros, the cons, and help you decide if you should flash this on your device.
The Pros: What Works Well? After testing this ROM thoroughly, here are the highlights:
- Battery Life: The battery backup is decent. Deep sleep works very well, so the phone retains charge when not in use.
- Stability: In terms of general performance and app management, it is actually good—better than stock and some other GSIs.
- Call Recording: A big plus is the native call recorder. Unlike the Google Dialer, this one allows you to record calls without informing the other person.
- Audio Quality: Audio output via the loudspeaker, wired headphones, and Bluetooth headphones is good and loud enough.
- Connectivity: 4G VoLTE works perfectly on Jio, including calls and the microphone.
Gaming Performance (BGMI/PUBG) I tested Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) for about 30 minutes.
- The Experience: It runs smooth initially, but when enemies appear, you might face freezes or glitches for 3-5 seconds.
- Verdict: It is okay for casual gaming, but I cannot recommend it for competitive play or tournaments.
The Cons: Bugs & Issues No ROM is perfect. Here is what you need to watch out for:
- The Multi-Touch Glitch: The persistent “single touch” issue is still here. Sometimes the screen ignores touches (especially in games), requiring you to turn the screen off and on to fix it.
- SafetyNet & Banking: SafetyNet (CTI profile) is failing. While Google Pay worked during my testing, other banking apps like HDFC did not work because the device is rooted/custom.
- Benchmark Crashes: Geekbench CPU tests failed and caused the app to restart at around 60-70% completion.
- No Face Unlock: This feature is missing; you are limited to Pattern, PIN, or Password.
Installation Notes
- GApps: This is a vanilla build, so you need to flash GApps separately (I used the Pico package).
- Camera: It comes with Snap Camera. Google Camera (GCam) won’t work out of the box because Camera2API is not enabled by default.
- Encryption: The storage is fully encrypted, meaning if you want to switch ROMs later, you will likely need to format data.
Conclusion If you want Android 11 stability and good battery life, LineageOS 18.1 is a solid choice. However, be aware of the touch issues during gaming and the SafetyNet restrictions.
