How to Downgrade Asus Zenfone Lite L1/Live L1 from Android 10 to ZenUI Oreo (Official Method) | Revert to Stock: Downgrade Asus Zenfone Lite L1 (Android 10 -> 9 -> 8) Without PC | Fix Bootloop & Downgrade: Asus Zenfone Lite L1/Live L1 (Android 10 to Oreo Guide)

Hey everyone, this is Kali from TechFanciers.

If you have updated your Asus Zenfone Lite L1 or Live L1 to the latest Android 10 (AOSP/Beta) and found it buggy or unstable, you might be looking to go back to the official stock ZenUI.

In this guide, I will walk you through the complete process of downgrading from Android 10 to Android 9 (Pie), and finally back to Android 8 (Oreo).

⚠️ Important Warning

  • Data Loss: This process requires a factory reset. Backup all your data (photos, contacts, files) to a PC or SD card before starting.
  • Risk: Downgrading involves flashing system files. Proceed at your own risk.
  • Model Specifics: You MUST download the correct files for your specific processor variant:
    • Asus Zenfone Lite L1: Look for builds containing 8937.
    • Asus Zenfone Live L1: Look for builds containing 8917.

Prerequisites & Downloads To successfully downgrade and avoid the “Restart Loop” issue, you need to download three specific files and place them on your SD Card (preferably in a folder named “Downgrade”):

  1. Android 10 to 9 Downgrade Zip (or the Pie Beta file).
  2. Android 9 to 8 Downgrade Zip (Official “P to O” downgrade file).
  3. Latest Official Android 8 (Oreo) Firmware Zip (This is crucial to fix the bootloop).

Step-by-Step Downgrade Guide

Phase 1: Android 10 to Android 9 (Pie)

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Boot into Recovery Mode by holding the Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously.
  3. Select “Apply update from SD card”.
  4. Navigate to your folder and select the Android 10 to 9 Downgrade Zip.
  5. Let the installation finish.
  6. Once done, select “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Wipe cache partition”.
  7. Select “Reboot system now”.
    • Note: Let the phone boot completely into Android 9 before proceeding.

Phase 2: Android 9 to Android 8 (Oreo)

  1. Power off the device again and boot back into Recovery Mode.
  2. Select “Apply update from SD card”.
  3. Select the Android 9 to 8 (P to O) Downgrade Zip.
  4. Once installed, perform a Factory Reset and Wipe Cache again.
  5. Reboot System.

Phase 3: The “Restart Loop” Fix Crucial Step: After downgrading to Oreo, you might encounter a Restart Loop (phone keeps rebooting). To fix this or prevent it, you must flash the latest stable Oreo firmware.

  1. If the phone loops, force power it off and boot back into Recovery Mode.
  2. Select “Apply update from SD card”.
  3. Choose the Latest Official Android 8 (Oreo) Firmware Zip.
  4. Install it, then perform one final Factory Reset.
  5. Reboot your device.

Conclusion Your Asus Zenfone Lite L1 or Live L1 should now be running the stable, official ZenUI 8 (Oreo). This method ensures you have a clean install without the bugs of the beta builds.
