Gaming Test: AOSP Android 10 on Asus Zenfone Lite L1 – PUBG, Free Fire & Heating Analysis | Is Android 10 Good for Gaming? Asus Zenfone Lite L1 Performance Review | PUBG on Budget: Zenfone Lite L1 AOSP 10 Review – 54°C Heating & Lag Test
Hey everyone, this is Kali from TechFanciers.
We have successfully installed the latest AOSP Android 10 update on the Asus Zenfone Lite L1, and now it is time to answer the big question: Can it game?
In this video, I put this budget device through its paces with high-intensive games like PUBG Mobile, PUBG Lite, Free Fire, and Call of Duty. While the performance was surprisingly decent in some areas, we encountered some serious heating issues that you need to know about.
Test Conditions
- Network: Jio 4G (VoLTE is working perfectly).
- Connectivity: WiFi and Mobile Data were both tested.
- Device State: No external cooling used.
Game-by-Game Performance
1. PUBG Mobile & PUBG Lite
- Graphics: Surprisingly, the device supported High Graphics settings.
- Gameplay: In the beginning, the gameplay feels smooth. However, this is not a gaming phone. After about 10-15 minutes, as the device heats up, you will experience significant frame drops and lag.
- Verdict: It is playable for casual fun, but do not expect a competitive experience.
2. Free Fire
- Experience: Free Fire ran much smoother than PUBG. It is less resource-intensive, making it a better fit for the Lite L1’s hardware.
- Recommendation: If you are a gamer on this device, Free Fire is the safer bet over PUBG.
The Major Issue: Overheating This is the biggest downside of this build. During my testing (approximately 20-30 minutes of gameplay), the device temperature skyrocketed.
- Recorded Temp: The phone reached 54°C to 57°C.
- Impact: The phone becomes uncomfortable to hold, and the sensors get very hot. This heat leads to thermal throttling, which causes the game to stutter and lag significantly.
Bugs & Glitches
- Multi-Touch Issue: The infamous “single touch” bug is present. Sometimes the screen stops registering multi-touch inputs, requiring you to lock and unlock the screen to fix it.
- Navigation Bar: There was a glitch with the navigation bar, but this can be fixed in settings by enabling/disabling gestures or the navbar.
Conclusion The AOSP Android 10 update is fantastic for daily usage, multimedia consumption, and casual apps. It breathes new life into the Zenfone Lite L1.
However, for hardcore gaming, it is a struggle. The heating is intense (hitting 54°C+), and the thermal throttling ruins the experience after a few minutes. If you want to play, stick to lighter games.
